Drive and Discover
A bus ride in Barbados is a lot of fun. A ride is $3.50 one way. You can take one of the new electric Transport Board buses. You may find a lot of senior citizens or school children with you because they ride for free. Yellow minibuses are reliable and run more frequently than the government buses. They will likely have loud colourful music and a conductor to collect your fare. If you are courageous, you can jump on a white ZR van, but be warned, these vans can get packed and move fast down the road.
Another approach is the rent a car for a few days to discover the island at your own pace. https://wanderingbajan.com/self-drive-island-tour-of-barbados/ I tried this route last summer and loved it. (A few places were closed because of COVID-19.)
If you are looking to rent a car, you can try out HoletownCars.com. It’s close enough to the apartment to walk to pick up the car, but Carleton and his team will also arrange for you to get the car at the airport or at Art Studio if you prefer. Mention my name or use the coupon code “Art01” to get 6.5% off.
